5 Solo Tennis Drills You Can Practice Without a Partner

These five drills work with any setup that returns a ball to you consistently, including TENNIS TRAINER PRO. Each targets a specific part of your game — do one or run through all five as a full solo session.

1. Forehand consistency

Hit twenty forehands in a row, focusing only on a clean, repeatable contact point. Reset and count again if you break form. This builds the muscle memory that's hard to isolate when you're also reacting to an opponent.

2. Backhand consistency

Same drill, backhand side. Most players avoid their weaker wing in casual play — solo reps are where you actually fix it.

3. Alternating forehand/backhand

Switch sides every stroke to simulate the footwork and recovery of a real rally, not just repeated shots from one spot.

4. Reaction speed

Return the ball as it comes back to you without resetting your stance first — this trains the quick read-and-react timing that a rally against a partner demands.

5. Volley control

Move closer to the base and practice short, controlled volleys instead of full swings, working on touch rather than power.
